tulip wood, ceramics | 45 x 152 x 233,4 cm | 2010

This piece of furniture has an integrated "fold back" ironing board, storage and an open niche. It's inspired on the HomeCrafts of "Cap-makers" and women that had to pleat their costumes. The ironing was often done at the kitchen table that was partly drawn out. The still life on the ceramic piece of cloth shows ironing "cap-makers".
With it?s soft coloured tulip wood combined with white soft ceramic drawers topped with matte gold glaze this really shows a soft and very romantic side of the history of the Dutch Zuiderzee. Even the handmade paintings are much more soft then usually.
