Zuiderzee Settings | Petrol Heat
tulip wood, ceramics | 90 x 50 x 81 cm | 2010
This "fold back" stool is inspired on the times when everything was fired with petrol and every house had "fold back" furniture with a lot of side stairs to get into the box bed or take something from the top of a cabinet. The still life on the ceramic piece of cloth shows a cooker from then which symbolizes the "petrol era".
With it's soft coloured tulip wood combined with white soft ceramic drawers topped with matte gold glaze this really shows a soft and very romantic side of the history of the Dutch Zuiderzee. Even the handmade paintings are much more soft then usually.
